Developer of identity management and access control systems, Global Rainmakers (GRI) will offer its iris technology for a security program in the City of Leon, Mexico. Portoss, a Leon-based developer of information systems for the law enforcement market, has partnered with GRI for the program. The City of Leon and Portoss are planning to develop the safest city in the world by using GRI’s iris biometrics as the base.
Portoss and Leon will use very sophisticated technology to enhance the security in the city, offering better iris identity integration for law enforcement applications. The iris recognition software is ideal for one-to-many identification purposes that are essential for places that have a vast population.
Portoss will combine all the iris capability in the city, deploy fiber-optic cable for miles, and build a central iris database with potential to incorporate private sectors for various applications. GRI's range of biometric technologies is used in various public sectors such as the U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, and several U.S. government agencies.
Global Rainmakers’ CEO, Hector Hoyos stated that the project would utilize the company’s iris technologies to recognize persons at distance and in motion. Portoss’ CEO, Alfonso Huerta Jimenez commented that the project demonstrates their ability to use iris biometrics technology for such large scale activities in a city. He added that the project offers a foundation for the company to further commit itself to law enforcement and national security projects.
