TRIA Beauty Launches New Laser Hair Removal System in Korea

Manufacturer of light-based skincare products, TRIA Beauty, announced that it has begun operations in Korea, which is the company’s second market in the Asia-Pacific region after Japan. TRIA Beauty has recently introduced an advanced Laser Hair Removal System called the TRIA LHRS into the Korean market.

TRIA beauty is the only organization to receive the Korean FDA approval for laser hair removal. The Korean operation is headed by Jiyoung Choi, who was a former Google Korea’s Country Marketing Manager and marketing head of CitiBank's Korea operation.

The TRIA LHRS is also distributed in the U.S., UK and Spain. Earlier in 2005, the company had launched the product in Japan under a different brand name, i-epi, and re-introduced it again as TRIA LHRS in 2009. The company also obtained an FDA clearance for its Skin Clarifying System. The device uses the blue light technology for treating mild to moderate acne. The product was launched in April 2010 in the U.S.

The Chief Executive Officer of TRIA Beauty, Kevin Appelbaum, stated that the cosmetic and skin care industry in Korea continues to grow at a time when majority of beauty markets across the globe are going through a low-phase. He informed that the Asian market represents 50% of the company’s revenue and is looking forward to future growth prospects in the region.
