Producer of precision electro-optic and optical systems, Navitar, has unveiled its new OptiStar Lenses that have been enhanced to meet the developments in shortwave infrared (SWIR) technology. Navitar’s SWIR hyperspectral lenses are well suited for various SWIR cameras-oriented imaging applications such as toll-way monitoring, aerial imaging, quality control, port and border security, and perimeter surveillance.
The OptiStar lenses offer better transmission, performance, and image quality from the visible spectrum into the SWIR region. The lenses operate with about 90% transmission range over the wavelength from 500 to 1700nm. The OptiStar lenses provide high performance than Navitar’s standard SWIR lenses. With an enhanced design, the lenses have the ability to depict quality images in dark environments. The OptiStar lenses are available in 50mm and 25mm sizes, with auto or manual iris.
Navitar’s Product Development Vice President, Craig Fitzgerald, stated that they manufacture lenses according to the consumer’s requirements. He also added that the lens development is motivated by the recognition of rising markets and modern trends in consumer’s applications. The designing of the OptiStar lenses was done through the teamwork of SWIR camera manufacturers and Navitar.
