RAM II FT-Raman Module from Bruker

The RAM II from Bruker is the first dual channel FT-Raman module that is capable of being coupled to the VERTEX FT-IR research spectrometer series. The RAM II provides the ideal FT-Raman measurement device by utilizing the input and output port of a VERTEX 70, VERTEX 80 or the related vacuum versions VERTEX 70v and VERTERX 80v.

The easy-to-use, intuitive OPUS software monitors all data collection and manipulation functions for the system and also permits automated switching between FT-Raman and FT-IR measurements.

High Performance

The culmination of Bruker’s prolonged experience in FT-Raman spectroscopy together with advanced 24-bit detector electronics and high quality optics has led to the FT-Raman module RAM II. The coupling of the Bruker VERTEX FT-IR research spectrometer with the RAM II module provides excellent stability and throughput required for demanding emission experiments which is the case for FT-Raman spectroscopy.

Sampling Flexibility

The RAM II can accommodate a second laser and detection system, two-fiber optic coupling ports and automated polarization accessory for ultimate flexibility. Additional features include defocusing optics that are required for colored samples in order to prevent overheating by the laser beam, and switching to 90° scattering geometry.

The standard configuration of the RAM II includes a white light source to correct the spectra for instrument responses, and a motorized sample stage for sample position optimization. Additional optional sampling accessories include automatic sample changers, and low and high temperature stages.

Raman spectroscopy is expanded to samples in the µm size range with the FT-Raman microscope RamanScopeIII and the unique feature of the combination possibility with the Bruker compact Raman microscope SENTERRA II. A dedicated configuration is also available to use the RAM II module for photo luminescence (PL) applications e.g. in the area of semiconductor quality control and material research.

Sensitivity

A broad spectral range of 3600 - 50 cm-1 (Stokes shift) is provided the RAM II configuration. In combination with e.g. the VERTEX 70 FT-IR spectrometer the RAM II module provides the highest stability and sensitivity. The approved Nd:YAG laser source (1064 nm) for sample excitation is completely controlled by software.

It is possible to equipt the system with either or both room-temperature InGaAs detector and a proprietary high-sensitivity Ge detector. Ultra-low signal detection with minimal noise ensuring outstanding sensitivity is provided by high throughput optics and Bruker’s unique liquid nitrogen cooled Germanium diode detector. Hassle free operation for an entire week is provided by the long hold time of the refrigerant.
