The JDSU IDL series provides up to 100 watts of multimode laser output by combining highly reliable, single-emitter diode lasers, fused-fiber delivery, and a red-pointing diode laser with a heat sink, power supply, and control electronics in one complete package.
Long life expectancy is a primary benefit of the IDL series. These lasers incorporate multiple single-emitter diodes. Unlike bar diodes, single-emitter diodes operate relatively stress-free during pulsed operation, and can be pulsed on and off without affecting lifetime. This is critical in many applications such as soldering and plastic welding. Also, due to its all-in-glass design, contamination cannot accumulate inside the IDL.
The IDL series is supplied with a 600-µm, 0.22-NA delivery fiber terminated with an SMA905 connector. An optional focusing termination provides a round, tophat beam profile that allows for uniform heat distribution at the work piece. The detachable termination focuses to a 600-µm spot diameter at a working distance of 85 mm.
Designed for easy operation and installation, the IDL series uses internal fans for cooling, features fiber delivery, and requires only standard, wall-plug power. The laser can be monitored and controlled by customer-supplied interface electronics via a 40-pin analog connector, or by RS232 computer control.
