SANYO to Increase Solar Cell Module Production Capacity at Japanese Plants

SANYO Electric has announced that the HIT solar cell modules production capacity would be increased at its plants located in Shiga and Nishikinohama, Japan. The company has planned for the production increase to meet the heavy demand for solar cell modules in the country.

The current production capacity of the Nishikinohama and Shiga plants are 35 MW and 100 MW, respectively. With the help of the new process enhancement, the Nishikinohama factory’s production capacity will be increased to 40 MW. The additional equipment installation in the Shiga plant will bring its total production capacity to 250 MW. Further, SANYO has planned to increase the HIT solar cell manufacturing capacity to 600 MW from 340 MW, by March 2011.

SANYO has HIT solar cell manufacturing plants at Shimane and Osaka. The company’s solar cell modules are produced at Nishikinohama and the Shiga plants, as well as at two overseas sites in Mexico.
