XKL Displays New Fiber Optic Amplification System at NANOG 49

Supplier of fiber optic networking products, XKL, has announced that its new, advanced DarkStar DRA fiber optic amplification system will be showcased at the ‘Beer & Gear’ event on 14 June 2010 in San Francisco, California.

The DRA is a compact and complete integrated IU sub-system that streamlines the current fiber optics infrastructure. The system enhances the data throughput to enable reliable and quick fiber optic networks for data transmission.

The DRA system, which is situated along the fiber, transmits the data with reduced cost and latency. Business organizations that depend on high-speed data transfers can get a high ROI in view of this reduced cost and latency.

In a realistic test with 40 channels of 10 GB/s data, the XKL DRA systems attained a one-way latency of 6.071 ms over 1231 km of fiber. The main advantages of using the DarkStar optical products are increased reliability and reduced power and cost.

XKL’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Cisco Systems, Len Bosack, stated that the company’s designs offer sophisticated optical solutions for next-generation modulation formats, and devices that are compact and use minimum power can be used to increase the transmission speed.
