Royal Philips Electronics has recently completed the installation of ArenaVision sports lighting systems at the major sporting stadiums in South Africa. Philips offers unique lighting solutions that provide improved viewing experience for spectators, television viewers and players alike. Philips has installed the new floodlighting system at Ellis Park, Soccer City, Nelson Mandela, Moses Mabhida, Royal Bafokeng and Peter Mokaba.
Jeroen Jansen, South African General Manager of Philips Lighting, stated that lights constitute less than 1% of the arena budget and yet produces tremendous effect on the television. He added that Philips’ lighting systems meet the needs of the television broadcasting industry and capture every nuances of the play to deliver enhanced viewing experience for television viewers. Efficient and quality lighting systems can aid both referees and players to deliver their best performance in the field, he said.
More than 50% of the world’s top football stadiums have been equipped with the ArenaVision sports lighting systems, and this lighting technology has been further improved to deliver optimum performance. For instance, Philip has designed new lighting systems that reduce light spillage and provide higher optical efficiency. These factors reduce the need for more lighting systems and cut down cost and energy consumption.
