The Helieon Sustainable Light Module has been named as the first affordable, socketed light-emitting diode (LED) that offers high-quality LED lighting. The Helieon module has won the LIGHTFAIR 2010 ‘Innovative Product of the Year’ award.
Molex will be licensing its Helieon interconnect technology intellectual property (IP) portfolio. The licensing of the interconnect interface, which is utilized in the Helieon light module, will allow light fixture producers across the globe to design innovative products based on this technology. The licensing will also enable rapid mass adoption.
The industry requirements of the Helieon light module interconnect technology allows Molex to ensure continuous design opportunities and simultaneously protects the development investment opportunities of both the manufacturers and their customers.
Molex’s, Vice President, Mike Picini, informed that the Helieon module is jointly developed by Bridgelux and Molex and licensing the company’s technology offers immense opportunities to integrate the Helieon on the broader scale and help enhance the LED lighting experience.
With the help of the Helieon module, light surroundings can be adjusted by switching the light output, color temperatures and beam angles at the module level, without causing any change to the light. This feature allows light manufacturers to provide a wide range of lighting solutions from a solitary lighting design and also enables them to take advantage of upcoming light-emitting diode technology improvements.
The Helieon light module has traditional lighting sockets and has an easy turn-and-lock mechanism. It is durable, eco-friendly and offers significant energy savings of about 80%.
