In the clearest sign yet that Light Emitting Plasma™ (LEP) has hit the mainstream as a solution for high-intensity lighting applications, this week's LIGHTFAIR International trade show features more luminaires using plasma technology than any prior show.
40-plus fixtures on display at the Vegas exhibition are illuminated by LUXIM's tic-tac-sized LEP product. This is five times as many as last year. And for the third consecutive year, LEP appeared in the show's prestigious awards line-up. Yesterday, LUXIM customer, PEMCO Lighting Products captured honors in the Roadway, Sports, Outdoor Architectural and Site Lighting category for its Sentinel Plasma Luminaire.
LEP's chief advantages over conventional High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps are longer life, brighter output and greater energy savings. For example, LUXIM's newest product, the 23,000-lumen STA-41 is the most powerful light source for general lighting applications. Its compact form factor means it can be flexibly deployed to deliver energy savings in multiple applications, while its 50,000-hour life is three times longer than HID lamps. Moreover, it can be dimmed to 20 percent—a feature that offers additional energy savings.
