IXYS, known for power semiconductors and motion control applications, has recently declared that its IXYS Colorado division has launched the PCX-7420 Precision Laser Diode Driver.
Precision pulsed power with precise MCU based digital power control has been provided by this system level product.
The PCX-7420 is a high power, air-cooled CW/QCW current sourced in order to activate diode lasers, bars and arrays up to 21.5 A at 23 V. The PCX-7420 has been engineered from the ground up to offer a current source or laser diode driver which is easy to operate and versatile. This PCX-7420 laser diode represents advancement in driving laser diodes.
Customers can develop characterization configurations and automated testing by selecting one of the many communication choices, which are standard with the PCX-7420. These configurations can be stored in the instrument’s on-board memory.
The features of PCX-7420 include:
- Forward voltages up to 24 V made possible by integrating higher current and a 24 V capability for testing arrays and single diodes.
- 1 A to 21.5 A output current which represents high current capability with 1-5.8 A bias and a further 15.7 A of laser pulse power.
- Diode and driver safety features like diode steering, current limit, and open load detection.
- Fast rise and fall times, less than 25nS for high speed applications.
- Output bias current
- Communication via Ethernet, USB and RS232 all standard.
- Intuitive touch screen interface simplifies operation.
- CE and RoHS compliant.
The driving laser diodes are applied in areas like industries; atmospheric Science; mil/aero; for testing of power semiconductors and characterization of laser diodes, LED’s, and diode/array; and for high power pulsed experimentation/lab use.
The PCX-7420 can be purchased from IXYS Colorado (Directed Energy).
