Daylight Solutions, which provides solutions for imaging and mid IR detection, has introduced a novel external cavity laser, TLS-41032, in the PITTCON Conference and Exposition.
The tunability of the laser is more than 200 cm-1 and it covers a wavelength of 3.25 µm in the central IR spectrum. The laser can be embedded into a number of sensors including environmental and safety applications, process analytical technology (PAT), industrial monitoring and process control.
The laser offers improved power, tuning range and spectral brightness in this central wavelength. This wavelength will complement the basic C-H stretching vibrational mode that enables hydrocarbon measurement. Broad backgrounds or mixed absorption characteristics produces unclear outcome while using distributed feedback (DFB) devices having narrow tuning range. This difficulty has been overcome in the new laser with a broad tuning range. Hence, multi component samples can be analyzed properly.
Dr. Bob Shine, a Senior Director of Commercial Products in Daylight Solutions said that the new laser product will allow new equipments in the environmental and petrochemical sectors for detecting and identifying a broad variety of molecules exhibiting unique spectral data at this wavelength.
Dr. Tim Day, the CEO and CTO of Daylight Solutions said that the addition of novel wavelengths and enhancement of the performance in the laser for industrial applications is the key strategy of the company which provides solutions for mid- infrared range in business sector.
