A subsidiary of IXYS Corporation, IXYS-Clare stated the market availability of the CPC5902 Optically Isolated I2C Bus Repeater. The industry’s premier integrated optical solution for I2C bus design is the optically isolated CPC5902 dual, a bidirectional logic-bus repeater.
While generating 3750Vrms of galvanic isolation, this device buffers the bidirectional I2C clock and data ports. Both fast-mode and standard-mode I2C up to 400 kbps are being supported by the CPC5902.
The CPC5902 further offers an integrated single package solution that reduces part count and PC board space. Clare's optical solution supports direct static-state buffering without refresh clocks, eliminating the need for internal clocking that sources EMI/RFI interference in designs. The CPC5902’s innovative design is reliable and offers glitch-free operation having extended life span. Unlike other competitive devices, the CPC5902 presents increased design flexibility with operations less than 2.7V.
Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications benefit from the CPC5902 optically coupled I2C bus repeater that generates isolation of the clock and buffering, leveraging data signals between the power supply equipment (PSE) controller and the host controller. Furthermore, it provides I2C bus length extender with isolated signal control and monitoring. The power supply high side interface between 2.7V and 5.5V facilitates I2C logic level translation applications. The CPC5902 is EN/IEC 60950 and UL 1577 certified.
The president of IXYS-Clare, Mark Heisig says that within the array of IXYS solutions, the CPC5902 generate isolated connectivity for power management applications, where power control is influenced by the Zilog MCUs.
