Wyatt Technology to Host 22nd Annual International Light Scattering Colloquium

Wyatt Technology Corporation, the world leader in absolute macromolecular characterization instrumentation and software, today announced its 22nd Annual International Light Scattering Colloquium (ILSC) presenting the latest instrumentation and application developments in light scattering.

The Colloquium is scheduled for Monday 31st October to Tuesday 1st November at the exclusive Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, California. This event will host a list of high-profile plenary speakers and light scattering instrument users.

To complement the 22nd annual ILSC, Wyatt Technology will also be hosting an Eclipse Field Flow Fractionation (FFF)-MALS Focus Meeting on November 2, 2011.

The ILSC was first introduced by Wyatt Technology in the 1990s. Over the years, it has become a world-leading event for all industry professionals. The annual meeting provides new and existing customers all over the world with the opportunity to gather and discuss their light scattering experiences. This year, delegates at the Colloquium will have the opportunity to listen to an array of expert speakers presenting a range of applications all utilizing Wyatt Technology’s instrumentation.

Key speakers at this year’s ILSC will include a mix of experts from industry, academia, and government:

  • Professor Ashutosh Chilkoti, Duke University
"Self-Assembly of Recombinant Stimulus Responsive Polypeptide into Nanoparticles"
  • Dr. Ewa Folta-Stogniew, Yale University
"Application of Light Scattering in a Core Facility Setting"
  • Professor Thomas Laue, University of New Hampshire
    "Protein Charge and Post-Reductionist Biochemistry"
  • Dr. Johannes Ottl, Novartis Pharma AG
"Light Scattering In Pharmaceutical Low Molecular Weight Drug Discovery"
  • Dr. Robert Sitrin, Merck & Co. Inc.
"Size Matters-Using Modern Technology to Characterize Vaccines"
  • Professor Andre Striegel, Florida State University
"7 Faces of Dr. Lao: The Many Roles of Light Scattering in Multi-Detector Polymer Separations"
  • Dr. Per-Olof Wahlund, Novo Nordisk A/S-Light Scattering:
"A Useful Tool in the Biophysicist's Toolbox"
  • Dr. Germán Rivas, Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas
"Quantitative Characterization of Essential Bacterial Macromolecular Complexes by Composition-Gradient Static Light Scattering Combined with Other Biophysical Techniques"

The Eclipse FFF-MALS Focus Meeting on the third day is dedicated to the exchange of experience between users of the Eclipse FFF system. The application focus will be proteins, biopolymers and liposome/virus particles. The format of the meeting will be a round-table discussion. For each session there will be a talk given by an expert in the corresponding topic as an introduction to the general discussion.
