CableLabs Issues DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON Specifications

Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs), a non-profit R&D consortium dealing in cable telecommunications technologies, has issued DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE 1.0) specifications.

The DPoE 1.0 specifications are meant for cable operators who can utilize current DOCSIS back office provisioning methods for delivering various services across the EPON access networks. Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House Networks have led the effort in describing the range of specifications.

Suppliers who have achieved interoperability on the DOCSIS infrastructure will be able to scale up their access into the business services with the common approach. The DPoE technology will aid operators to provide Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and IP-based commercial and business service applications.
