First Fiber-Optic Network for UK

The United Kingdom has received the first fiber-optic network for its community. Ed Vaizey, the government minister switched on the new optical network in Cumbria. The fiber-optic project connects various businesses and homes in the county.

The fiber-optic technology has been deployed extensively in Japan, USA, and Europe. This is the first time a community has decided to dig and install fiber cables all by itself, to provide broadband services. The network will offer the residents of Alston Moor with 20 - 100 Mbps download speeds in the near future.

Cybermoor devised the provisions for the fiber-optic project. The Project Manager at Cybermoor, Daniel Heery stated that this development is an important milestone and inspire various communities.
