San Diego State University announced that it has installed the Lithonia Lighting’s LED solid-state lighting in its lecture hall. The University has deployed 30 DOM8 LED luminaires for the purpose of downlighting, and over 80 RTLED luminaires for providing ambient lighting. The new 215-seat lecture hall project marks the University’s initiative in attaining sustainability, and minimizing costs and energy.
The installation at the San Diego State University is the second RTLED luminaire-deployment in a college campus. Lithonia Lighting’s recessed RTLED luminaire has an operating life of 50,000 h, and it minimizes maintenance costs and energy. Lithonia has provided the luminaries along with a Samsung light engine that offers a CRI greater than 80, and a color temperature of 3500K. For full-range dimming, the luminaries feature a 0-10V control.
The architect of San Diego State University, Jeffrey Herr, stated that they are impressed with the high brightness of the luminaires. He added that he had confidence in the LED technology and was satisfied with the result.
